A Baby Dedication

We held a small baby dedication in our home for Lydia in November. It was a special time of worship with praise songs and prayers, followed by the sharing of scriptures and then fellowship. We were so blessed!

We still plan to have a formal baby dedication at our church in a few months, but this one was for our Atlanta brethren who wouldn't be able to make it to that one. We had about 20 very special people attend.

Martha holding Lydia in the blanket she made
Bennett came to Lydia's dedication!
Size comparison: Bennett wins on weight, but they're about the same length!

Carrie and Lydia
After the dedication we had a fun lunch at Six Feet Under with Bennett, his folks, and Carrie.

Each person who attended shared a scripture/prayer with us. The verses were to encourage us as parents, or for Lydia as she grows. My next task is to organize and scrapbook the verses, so we can share them with Lydia when she is older and remind her of this special day. We hope everyone who attended was encouraged and will come alongside us as we strive to raise our daughter in the fear and knowledge of the Lord.

Here's a sampling:

"For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him. Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be lent to the Lord." 1 Samuel 1:27-28

"As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15

For Lydia: "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32

They were ALL good!  I wish I could share them all, but how 'bout this... if you have a verse you'd like to share with us to encourage us as parents, or something that we can share with Lydia as she grows, please comment and share it here. Thanks!

Soli Deo Gloria (To God Alone be the Glory!)
